SUMMARY:

The autonomy of the pregnant person constitutes the central structure that supports good obstetric practices. In this sense, the Birth Plan (BP) emerges as a social tool capable of strengthening core principles in bioethics by highlighting the active participation of the family in the birthing process. This study aims to develop an educational technology on the birth plan for Primary Health Care professionals. It is a technological production based on Contextualized Instructional Design (CID), developed from a methodological study using a mixed-methods approach. Accordingly, the study will follow the CID stages, adapted for this research, namely: analysis (stage 1: scoping review and qualitative study), development (stage 2: structuring the content of the educational technology using open educational resources on the birth plan), validation (stage 3: content validation according to the criteria of Pasquali et al., 2010), implementation (stage 4: presentation of the educational technology to professionals with expertise in Maternal and Child Health through a link sent via email), and impact analysis (stage 5: quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test). At the end of the study, it is expected that an educational technology on the birth plan will be developed for Primary Health Care professionals. As a potential impact on the Family Health Strategy (FHS) and the Unified Health System, we highlight the possibility of effectively implementing the BP in the women’s healthcare network in the municipality of Parelhas, Rio Grande do Norte, since data collection will enable reflections that guide the construction of a “care and protection pathway” for pregnant persons in the studied municipality. The scientific and social relevance of this research includes the opportunity to visualize and understand the insights of professionals who provide care to pregnant persons throughout the pregnancy–postpartum cycle, which will form the basis for the development of the educational technology. Finally, this investigation aims to fill a gap that is still underexplored in Brazilian literature: the lack of validated and contextualized educational technologies to support the use of the birth plan in Primary Health Care. By bringing together foundations of bioethics, health education, and digital technologies, the study proposes an innovative scientific product that aligns humanized care with evidence-based training processes.
