SUMMARY:

In view of the social, economic and political transformations in Venezuela, Brazil has become a consolidated destination for Venezuelan migrants and refugees. Among this group are the indigenous Warao ethnic group who established the migratory flow and arrived in Mossoró/RN. In Brazil, the Warao have been facing several difficulties, including access to the health system. Thus, this research aims to understand the obstacles related to health care for the Warao people and for the Family Health Team that provides health care to this population in the city of Mossoró/RN. This is an exploratory, cross-sectional, descriptive research with a qualitative approach, which will be conducted through open interviews with 10 representatives of the Warao people or until saturation of responses, over 18 years of age, such as leaders, midwives and the general population. Regarding health professionals, those who provide health care to the Warao people will be interviewed, which is limited to 2 Family Health Teams, composed of doctors, dentists, nursing technicians, nurses, community health agents and social workers, totaling 20 professionals. In addition to manual recording, the interviews will be recorded in audio on a cell phone, scheduled in advance with a date and time for their completion after the signing of the Free and Informed Consent Form (FICF). With the development of this research, it is expected to clarify the main challenges, cultural, institutional and structural barriers in the process of caring for the Warao population, and to recognize the potential, such as successful strategies and experiences of health care, in order to contribute to the improvement of the realization of the right to health and compliance with the principles of universality and equity of the Unified Health System, organization of services and strengthening of care practices that are more sensitive to the sociocultural specificities of indigenous peoples in situations of forced migration.
