SUMMARY:

In view of the speed in the process of demographic transition and significant changes, such as the decline in fertility rates and the increase in the proportion of elderly people, come causing major transformations in human population dynamics, determining changes in the age structure, as well as new challenges and opportunities for the age group over 60 years old. It is assumed that the management of health policies aimed at implementing a line of care for the Health of the Elderly implies rapid and timely deliberations for the effective implementation of current policies. This study aims to analyze the profile of the management of health actions for the elderly in the municipalities of Amazonas. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. Data collection was carried out through an online interview, via audio/video telephone call, with the municipal technical managers of the state of Amazonas in the year 2024. Of the universe of 62 managers/technical references, only 48% agreed to participate in the studies. The findings indicate that the majority (70%) declared themselves to be female, have an average age of 38.1 years and around 73.3% have a temporary contract with the Secretariat. It was also possible to verify that 53.3% of the volunteers have a degree in Nursing, and only 01 (one) has a postgraduate degree in Human Aging or a related area. Regarding the activities developed, approximately 40% of the professionals share the activities of managing the health action for the elderly with other administrative and assistance areas. Of those who reported having previous experience in management, 53.3% reported having managed other actions and, on average, have been in charge of managing municipal health policies for 2.43 years. The study reflects on the working conditions experienced by health managers, the vulnerability of bonds, lack of knowledge of the legal frameworks guiding the National Health Policy for the Elderly (PNSPI), insufficient qualification in the subject of human aging, thus pointing out weaknesses in the management of the action, mainly with regard to knowledge of public policies and technical knowledge on the aging process.
