Multi-criteria analysis of drought vulnerability in the Apodi-Mossoro River Basin
Northeast Brazil, SPEI, Water Resources
Drought, a natural phenomenon that has been exacerbated by climate change, represents a growing threat to many regions, especially those with arid and semi-arid climates. This study aims to assess the vulnerability to drought in the Apodi-Mossoro River Basin, taking into account socio-economic, climatic and water management aspects. The analysis will be carried out at different scales, from the basin to the municipal level, in order to take into account the local adaptive capacity. Indicators from these dimensions will be integrated to identify the most vulnerable areas and those with the greatest capacity to adapt to drought, as well as to consider the population's perception of the impact of this phenomenon. It is hoped that this will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the multiple dimensions of vulnerability to drought and contribute to the construction of more resilient strategies, providing support for informed decision-making at different levels of public administration and society.
