This article sheds light on the spatial distribution of developments launched during the period of intense real estate production in Natal / RN, which begins in 2005 and ends in 2014. For this, one of the techniques of content analysis was applied to the documents that compose the registration of real estate development, favoring a methodological standardization, which can be replicated in other Brazilian cities. The results indicate an asymmetrical distribution of real estate developments throughout the municipal territory, considering that 86% of the developments are concentrated in 4 areas of the city, which correspond to only 19% of the municipal territory. Among these locations, some have doubled and even tripled the launch of their housing units, in just 10 years of cycle. In 3 of these 4 locations, there is a connection between real estate production and some physical and socioeconomic characteristics found in them, such as tourism and the environment, urban facilities, in addition to the purchasing power of the population. Finally, was identified the performance of the state as an inducer of the development of a peripheral region through a housing program.
