SUMMARY:
This work explores the application of emerging technologies to promote the safety of women in travel, a relevant topic in contemporary tourism due to the challenges faced by this demographic. The safety of female travelers is addressed as a central aspect of inclusive and sustainable tourism, given the prevalence of issues such as harassment, gender-based violence, and structural inequalities in tourist spaces. In this context, emerging technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI), show promise for mitigating these challenges. The proposal seeks to design an AI- based prototype application for the safety of female travelers, with preventive, predictive, and real-time support features, aligning with demands for innovative and effective solutions. The theoretical framework is organized into chapters that address the safety of women in tourism, an analysis of associated policies and legislation, and a review of AI technologies used for women's safety in tourism. These chapters support the methodological development and practical proposition, ensuring a robust theoretical framework for the research. The methodology employed combines qualitative approaches in three main phases: 1) literature review and data analysis; 2) prototype design; 3) test and validation plan. Initially, a systematic literature review was conducted in recognized databases to map the state- of-the-art on women's safety in tourism and emerging technologies. In the second phase, the prototype will be designed from an initial specification for an application based on AI techniques, including machine learning for predictive analysis and alert systems. Finally, for future testing and validation, scripts will be structured for the conceived prototype to be applied in tourist establishments to collect user feedback to assess usability, reliability, and impact on the perception of safety. The results will be organized into three sections: 1) presentation of the prototype; 2) presentation of the prototype's brand; 3) presentation of the prototype's testing and validation script. This sequential logic was chosen to integrate the practical development and the results in a cohesive and comprehensive way. The study emphasizes the importance of initiatives that promote the safety and empowerment of women in tourism, highlighting the potential of technology as a catalyst for change. The research aims not only to fill gaps in the literature on the topic but also to offer a practical solution to problems faced by women in tourism, contributing to a more inclusive, sustainable, and safer sector.
