Imagination in the actors and actresses prepare and creative process

The present work aims to bring to the center of discussion the potential of imagination, how it can develop and wide itself, when crossing other essential elements of the actors and actresses creative working process. Especially, how imagination acts on memory. Many stage directors, actresses and actors believed in imagination as a driving force to the actor’s prepare and to create characters and scenes. This research is part of the actress (and author of this work) practical study, based on the development of her monologue "Retalhos", inspired by her grandmother’s life and private universe, who has been suffering with Alzheimer's disease for years. A theoretical reflection is carried out by focusing on some Somatic principles and interpretative methods developed by Russian actors and pedagogues, Constantin Stanislavsky and Michael Chekhov.
