DRESSING OF THE LAGOONS: THE MARKET RELATIONSHIP OF WATERS WITH AFRO-ALAGOAN ANCESTRALITY
Mercado das Águas; Dance; Costumes; Alagoas; Ritual.
There is water. There is movement. There is dressing. There are orixás. There are the shores, the salt, and the sururu. It is the narrative of an artist who dances dressed in the A(lagoas). From this perspective, the dissertation seeks to reflect on the interfaces of costume with the dancing body, aiming at the Afro-Alagoan ancestral aesthetics in Mercado das Águas as a prelude. In this analytical path, the body seeks to build a connection with the sacred through costume and its adornment, even if it is not yet visible, it needs to be felt. It is necessary to feel ancestry today, even if it was subjected to police raids in the past century. It is through this horror that artistic work is analyzed as an archive, a document, and becomes a form of writing. It is in this context that the dissertation is constructed and seeks to trigger the Alagoas of black hands that resonate within the artist. For this purpose, a bridge was built with the ideas of Anderson Diego Almeida (2021;2025), Edson Bezerra (2019), and Fausto Viana (2014). Thus, the body that dances and wears the Waters builds bridges capable of connecting past, present, and future, just like body, dance, and scenography.
