SUMMARY:

This research aims to verify how the practice of Popular Puppet Theater from the Northeast can contribute to the emancipation of knowledge among students, allowing them to relate their artistic practices to the different dimensions of their social, cultural, political, and economic lives. It is a case study developed at Belém Câmara State School in Natal/RN. The methodological procedures included workshops for creating puppets using recycled materials, writing texts based on the dramaturgy of the Popular Puppet Theater from the Northeast, as well as creating and presenting puppets. The entire process was documented through photos and videos, as well as notes in the logbook. The theoretical references included Paulo Freire (1996), Ana Mae Barbosa (2010), Fernando Augusto Gonçalves Santos (1979), Hermílio Borba Filho (1969), Graça Cavalcanti (2011), André Carrico (2016, 2017), Zildalte Ramos de Macêdo (2015), Canclini (2015), and José Jorge de Carvalho (1991).
