From this perspective, the present work seeks to reflect on the real impacts of university extension on initial training in the Performing Arts, based on the analysis of students graduating from the Degree in Dance and Degree in Theater at UFRN, who work in extension projects, as well as students who graduated from these courses, who also passed through the extension course. Therefore, we carried out exploratory research, with the qualitative and quantitative treatment of the data, in addition to interviews carried out with the referred students. The general objective of the work focuses on understanding the contributions of extension in the realization of integral formation in the Performing Arts for the formation of dialogic and critical subjects, also expanding the debate to current discussions on the curricularization of university extension. The results indicate that extension actions constitute an academic practice with the potential to contribute to the formation of dance and theater students at UFRN, especially with regard to citizen education, however, it is essential to discuss the concepts, practices, and difficulties faced in carrying out of these activities, so that it is possible to improve and expand them so that they can increasingly achieve greater contributions and impacts on the training of performing arts professionals.
