The objective of this research is to investigate the appreciation of contemporary dance works built with non-representative movements, whereas his cousin dramaturgy to be non-linear, and its construction is through the materiality of movement and body, for his research. Thus, we discussed about how to place the appreciation taking as its starting point the understanding that we have to date on contemporary dance and its dramaturgy from authors like Patricia Leal, Ana Carolina Mundim, Laurence Louppe, Paulo Caldas, Rosa Hercoles, among others. The research is being conducted by a qualitative methodology, participant character, and is characterized even in a case study, with the object guiding the appreciation of the Ego (2015) show of the Grupo de Dança da UFRN, and ESCrito Absurdo (2016) show creators of Vladimir Rodriguez (Colombia) and Omar Carrum (Mexico). As well as through contact with Diana Fontes, general coordinator of the Encontro de Dança de Natal/RN, being an event that deals directly with presentations and, therefore, appreciation of various aspects of contemporary dance. So we gather bibliographic material produced through interviews with artists and fancier of the aforementioned shows. The relevance of the research is by contributing to discussions on public and appreciation of contemporary dance, as there are few studies reported in Brazil, and more specifically in Natal / RN on this topic.
