Social Work and the Socioeducational System: analysis of professional practice at FUNDASE/RN
Social Work; Socioeducational System; Professional Practice; FUNDASE/RN.
This research aims to analyze the work of social workers within the closed environment of the Socioeducational System in Rio Grande do Norte, using FUNDASE/RN as the locus of investigation. The engagement with this theme arose from professional experience within the institution, which reveals a scenario marked by contradictions between the ethical-political project of Social Work, aligned with the guarantee of rights, and the determinations of a neoliberal and punitive state that plays a significant role in the process of underfunding the policy and maintaining traces of the old doctrine of irregular situation. The study is based on a critical theoretical framework, grounded in historical-dialectical materialism, to understand the relationship between the State, socioeducational policy, and professional practice in the face of the determinations of contemporary capitalism and the regional context. Methodologically, a qualitative approach was chosen, utilizing bibliographic review, document analysis, semi-structured interviews, and focus groups with the social workers of the foundation. The analysis will seek to apprehend the strategies, instruments, and challenges of professional work in this socio-occupational space, considering regional specificities and the current context of attacks on the paradigm of integral protection. The research is justified by the urgency to reflect on this socio-occupational space, which is a significant employer for the category and is caught in a struggle between antagonistic societal projects, and to contribute to the production of knowledge within the field of Social Work.
