The working class and the condominius for elderly people in Brazil: the case of the Cidade Madura Program in the state of Paraíba

This study proposes to relate issues that permeate the Brazilian population aging, as well as the access to housing experienced by this part of the population and the discussions about the reproduction of the labor force in the capitalist mode of production. In this sense, the central objective of the research will be: to analyze the social function of the Cidade Madura Program, offered to the elderly population of Paraíba and its relation with the reproduction of the work force in contemporary capitalist sociability. Specific objectives include: 1) To examine the relationship between social policies and the rights of the elderly population, with a focus on the relationship between work, the market and the State 2) To apprehend the right to housing for the elderly population in the State capitalist, and 3) Identify the historical, economic, social and political determinants of the Cidade Madura Program. The method used will be the dialectical historical materialist, in the perspective of a successive approximation with the multiple and real determinations, in order to allow an analysis that contemplates the particularities, singularities and universality of the object in question, using the mixed approach. As an effort of abstraction and analysis of the object, we will use the categories: Work; Law and Social Policies. In addition to bibliographical and documentary research, we intend to go to the field and to this end, the Basic Social Protection Management of the Human Development Secretariat of the State of Paraíba and the Residencial Cidade Madura, located in the city of João Pessoa / PB, will be the focus of this research. The interviews will be carried out with the technique of semistructured type scripts. Given the limited time for the analysis and systematization of the data obtained, we will use the technique of selective sampling of key sources with the elderly and professionals working in the residential residence in the respective condominium.
