YOUNG EVANGELICALS AND THE ISSUE OF RELIGIOUS TRANSIT: DEMANDS, ASSOCIATIONS AND CONTROVERSIES AROUND RELIGIOUS DIRECTIONS IN BRAZIL
Brazilian evangelical segment. Religious transit. Young evangelical.
The changes in the Brazilian evangelical segment in recent decades are not restricted to attracting and transiting believers, but encompass the emergence of new ideas, demands and configurations. These transformations are expressed in the political, cultural, liturgical and doctrinal fields. In view of this, this work intends to problematize the issue of religious transit in Brazil, with an emphasis on the religious mobility of young evangelicals, taking as its starting point the hypothesis that points to the search for flexibility and religious autonomy and/or political preferences as their main motivation. Therefore, the objective is to reflect on the changes in the Brazilian evangelical segment, with Natal/RN as the research field, based on the characterization of the profile of young evangelicals who transit, delimiting their religious trajectory and seeking to understand their motivations. To carry out this investigation, methodologies were used such as: bibliographic review, and application of a semi-structured questionnaire with young evangelicals accessed through virtual groups of young people on WhatsApp and Facebook, and through privileged interlocutors. Finally, we will investigate the hypothesis that points out the causes for religious transit in this context as related to factors such as the search for flexibility and religious autonomy and/or political preferences, as well as evaluating the role of young evangelicals in this process of religious changes.
