SUMMARY:

The thesis research was conducted in the state of Mato Grosso, which
encompasses three of Brazil's major biomes: the Amazon, the Pantanal, and the
Cerrado. This state faces the challenge of creating new development alternatives
in order to reduce its dependence and external vulnerability, expand the social
outcomes of economic dynamics, and, above all, moderate the environmental
impacts resulting from the use and exploitation of its natural resources. There are
actions on several fronts of social mobilization of individuals who are working
against the state in the search for survival through income and quality of life. In
this sense, cooperatives, associations, and formal and informal solidarity
economy groups meet these formalities in different territories. However, building
social practices that value workers means building alternatives for organizing
society as a way to counter the capitalist system and break the alienating and
exclusionary process. Milton Santos, in his book “O espaço do cidadão” when
discussing space, points to this form of organization, based on counter-rationality,
circles of counter-hegemonic cooperation, and organic rationality. This research
seeks to discuss this territory and the subjects that are formed within it, bringing
counter-rationality through cooperativism and solidarity education, agroecology,
and cooperation. Therefore, workers choose their form of organization—which
means giving the working class the opportunity not to submit to the division of
labor, especially in the context of wage labor, in order to contextualize and reflect
on the agrarian issue. Considering these arguments, we set the following
objective for this thesis: to analyze the relationships between the dynamics of
places and their counter-rationalities based on the role of the Incubator for
Solidarity-based and Sustainable Economic Enterprises (INCUBEESS) and the
PECSOL program, and how this contributes to the process of organizing and
maintaining solidarity-based cooperativism and agroecology in the state of Mato
Grosso. This research involved working with various people involved in solidarity
cooperatives in several municipalities in the state of Mato Grosso. The
construction of this new concept creates possibilities for deconstructing the
inequalities that have historically existed between social classes. Thus, one
possibility is the cooperative work developed in these cooperatives.
