DEGREES OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE ESTUARY OF THE RIO POTENGI/RN
Landscape Geoecology, Degrees of Sustainability, Environmental planning, Estuary.
The object of the research is an excerpt of the Potengi River estuary, considering its use and coverage and its impacts on the landscape from a systemic perspective, based on the theoretical-conceptual support of Landscape Geoecology. The objective is to identify the degrees of sustainability present in the study area, considering the spatial organization of physical and socioeconomic aspects and their consequences in the forms of use and occupation, as well as to understand the types of impacts caused by the different activities developed in the estuarine sector and its repercussions on the mangrove ecosystem. It is intended, through bibliographic research, field work and geoprocessing techniques, to create a database in a Geographic Information System (GIS) that allows the generation of cartographic products related to the themes worked on. The results achieved in the research will be used to propose uses that are more compatible with the carrying capacity of the Potengi River estuary.
