The "information explosion" brought about by the digital age and propelled by the evolution of the internet has yielded significant benefits, but it also presents ethical and practical challenges in managing a massive volume of data. While these advancements bring gains, the excessive volume of information can hinder the retrieval of relevant data, requiring specific skills for the proper use of available resources. The development of information literacy among retired civil servants can contribute to achieving quality of life, citizenship, freedom, human development, emancipation, and other capabilities in the effective use of informational resources (Lucca; Vianna; Vitorino, 2018). Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the information literacy of retired civil servants at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) in using the SouGov application, a tool that facilitates the management of personal and functional information. To achieve this objective, the methodology adopted in this research was descriptive and exploratory, employing a quantitative- qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire, and its analysis was performed using content analysis and descriptive statistics, aiming to identify patterns and relationships among the collected information. The data analysis revealed nuances and patterns that highlighted the need for the creation of a training program targeting this audience, aiming at their digital inclusion as well as the development of competencies and skills that promote more informed decision-making, fostering the inclusion and active participation of retired civil servants in contemporary society
