FEDERAL INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION MANAGERS INFORMATIONAL BEHAVIOR IN DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES RELATED TO THE SARS-COV-2 PANDEMIC

It deals with information and knowledge management within the scope of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) decision-making processes undertaken at related to the SARS-CoV2 pandemic, between March 2020 and January 2022. It seeks to answer the following question: how was the informational behavior of UFRN managers regarding the decision-making processes that cover the issues that involved the SARS-Cov2 pandemic? Therefore, its general objective is to investigate the informational behavior of UFRN managers regarding the decision- making processes that involved the consequences of the SARS-CoV2 pandemic in the institution. To this end, four specific objectives were established: (1) to identify the decision-making processes related to the pandemic, the decisions taken and the documents produced; (2) to investigate the affective, cognitive and physical aspects of the managers informational behavior; (3) examine the relationship between information and decision regarding processes marked by uncertainty resulting from the pandemic; (4) produce a tool through which to communicate good practices of informational behavior that can contribute to decision-making processes. In order to achieve these objectives, the methodological approach included the application of an inductive approach, in a case study based on documentary, questionnaires and interviews data techniques. The results achieved point to an informational behavior that promotes the search, mediation and use of information in different instances of UFRN and that encourages the participation of the academic community in the construction of knowledge in favor of decisions.
