SUMMARY:

This research investigates the actions of the Associação de Amparo às Mulheres (AMPAR) in
confronting violence against women in the municipality of Parnamirim, Rio Grande do Norte.
It aims to explore the socioeconomic and cultural context of the women served by AMPAR,
assess the structure and functioning of the organization, analyze the resistance strategies
developed by women in situations of domestic violence, and map the formal and informal
support networks available in the municipality. The methodology adopted is participant
research, with immersion in the daily life of AMPAR, monitoring of activities, and interaction
with the women served developed through pedagogical workshops entitled "Sempre Vivas"
Project, from April 1 to June 29, 2024. Data collection includes document analysis, participant
observation, and interviews with the Municipal Secretariat for Women and Human Rights of
Parnamirim (SEMMUD) and the State Subsecretariat for Women's Policies (SPM/SEMJIDH).
