Women and the Occupation Carlos Marighella: Decent Housing, State and Politics.
cc
This research aims to understand the forms of organization of the residents of the Carlos Marighella Occupation (OCM) in the city of Fortaleza - CE, taking into account, in particular, the impacts that the Covid-19 pandemic had on the organization of the group, since it began on August 8, 2020. Besides this broader aspect, I will try to highlight the protagonism played by the women of the Occupation, observed from their assumption as leaders, either in front of many of the clashes with the police and in the demonstrations through the streets of Fortaleza, in the making of posters and broader demands for decent housing. Based on the incorporation of and dialogue with the field of Anthropology of Images, I point out how the act of drawing in/on the field brings reflections on racism and structural violence that marks and marginalizes peripheral bodies and territories, not only in the State of Ceará, but throughout the Brazilian territory. After all, when talking about occupations, it is possible to see the various forms of violence that their residents went through, shaped by specific configurations that involve capitalism, State violence and prejudice rooted throughout society.
