“IT’S A DIFFERENT EDUCATION”: MEANINGS OF EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES FROM NA LGBT COLLECTIVE IN FORTALEZA/CE
LGBT Collective; Education; Pedagogical Experiences
The present research, in progress, aims to understand the experiences of individuals, mostly LGBT, in the context of an LGBT collective in the city of Fortaleza. This LGBT collective is a university extension programo f Universidade Estadual do Ceará, founded in 2015, aims to combat prejudices like a transphobia in educational settings and in other social settings. Understanding that education is taken as a fundamental pillar in the performance of this LGBT collective, it offers preparatory courses for entrance exams, like Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM), vocational training, language courses and other training. I aim to analyze the meanings of pedagogical and non-pedagogical experiences of the participants of this researched collective. Methodologically, this research is ethnographic and uses participant observation, interviews, informal conversations, use of images and participant observation in cyberspace, considering the current pandemic moment. It is observed, initially, that the understanding of what it means to “live in and within” the LGBT collective and also to understand the meanings of educational itineraries in the training offered, memories of past school experiences marked by suffering and “bullying”, different from the current experience of participating in the LGBT collective. However, although can affirm a relative similarity between the participating subjects, it is necessary to highlight that the meanings produced in school experiences are plural and heterogeneous, as well as the meanings that motivate the engagement and participation in such a collective.
