IN THE FRAMES OF AXÉ: MEMORY, AGENCY AND ARTICULATIONS OF ILÉ ASÉ DAJÓ ÌYA OMÍ SÀBÁ
memory; agency; candomblé; jurema;
This research, carried out between 2019 and 2021, seeks to understand how the IléAséDajóÌyaOmíSàbá, a Candomblé and Jurema terreiro, becomes a reference in Afro-Brazilian religion in Areia Branca-RN. The ethnography was built from the dialogue with people in the House; with the objects of the Maria Pinheiro Memorial; observations in the rituals of Jurema and candomblé; interviews with other actors who are connected to this space, who are part of the terreiro's articulations and which lead to the publicizing of the sacred, through the Cortejo para Iemanjá, the Jornal Axé em Notícia and the lives. Following the paths taken by this House from Yalorixá Maria Pinheiro (in memorian) to the publication of their work, this research moves between Yalorixás, Babalorixás, Fathers and Mothers of Saint, orixás, entities, objects, clients, politicians, teachers and researchers. I use the notion of memory and agency to analyze the prominence of this terreiro in relation to its political strategies related to Afro-Brazilian religion in Areia Branca.
