CINEMA, IMAGINATION AND MEMORIAL SPACES: ANTHROPOLOGICAL TRAJECTORY OF IMAGINARY IN THE PERNAMBUCANO CINEMA OF KLEBER MENDONÇA FILHO
Cinema, Anthropology, Imaginary, Gilbert Durand, Gaston Bachelard.
This dissertation qualification text aims to present the progress of the research on the cinema of fiction as an anthropological imaginary collection, whose object is the Pernambuco cinema of director Kleber Mendonça Filho. Based on the discussions proposed by Gilbert Durand and Gaston Bachelard on symbolic imagination, poetic spaces and temporalities, we propose to investigate how cinema works as a product of representation and fabrication of social reality, which develops through its cinematic language codes, symbols, myths and narratives. In this way, both the representation and the fabrication of social reality produce the imaginary in society. Also, we discuss the symbolic city as the place of representations, creation of imaginations and social narratives of space-temporal predominance. In this understanding, we cover a multidisciplinary perspective of socio-anthropological scope, in order to interpret and analyze how the contemporary films that treat the city of Recife as a place of intense transformations related to the urban space develop discourses of the daily memory spaces of the symbolic city. In this sense, the master's thesis is based on a theoretical research to undertake the cinema as an anthropological research possibility.
