RESUMO:

This wording presents the ethnographic work done for writing the doctoral thesis, trying to demonstrate the objectives that animate the research and the methodological instruments used to produce the data. The thesis seeks to understand ethnographically processes of subjectivation experienced by transsexual men in the course of health care in Fortaleza, Ceará, observing how, along with other social agents such as physicians and State employees, they create a social world of their own in which trans health becomes a legitimate social problem under which one must invest to guarantee rights. Through the ethnographic observation, interlocutors were accompanied in their professional activities and activists, seeking to know the formation of relationships and the practices involved in the networks for the consolidation of trans men as subjects of rights and care. The research was carried out between 2016 and 2018 through participant observation of the daily life of three different sites: a) health services (SERTRANS outpatient clinic of the Mental Health Hospital Prof. Frota Pinto, basic health units, private clinics and others secondary hospitals in the city), b) Janaína Dutra LGBT Reference Center, Fortaleza City Hall, and c) Thadeu Nascimento Shelter and the Transmasculine Association of Ceará. In addition, semi-structured and in-depth interviews were carried out with 20 transsexual men, 17 medical doctors and 11 state employees working in public policies. The production of the data also counted on the consultation of documents from the LGBT collections of the LGBT Asa Branca Resistance Group and the City Hall of Fortaleza.
