Between artistic career and indigenist actions: indians and musicians in Brazil
Indigenous music; brazilian artists; indigenism
This study aims to analyze visible indigenist aspects of brazilian music artists. In the middle of the possibility of being an "artist with indigenist perspectives" and/or practicing an "artistic indigenism", the present study will discuss topics related to copyright issues, intangible heritage, cultural translation processes, market and phonographic production. In order to problematize these topics, the research, in progress, is based on the study of social trajectories of musicists, through interviews, musical works and written documents produced by them, besides pieces and reports published in the media. Specifically, the research will approach sociomusical relations between brazilian artists and indigenous people between 1970 and 2000.Thus, we pursued the materialization of an anthropology which analyzes a matter of boundary between the artistic field and the political field in which some brazilian artists have movimented themselves.
