SUMMARY:

The global demand for energy from renewable sources, driven by numerous societal benefits, presents a significant opportunity for Brazil given its high generation potential. As a producer of renewable energy, such as Onshore Wind Power, Brazil has embraced the idea of implementing Offshore Wind Power. However, operating in aquatic environments introduces unique operational challenges. Occupational safety in Brazil strives to ensure that activities are carried out with risk elimination or minimization. Given that offshore wind farms represent a new sector for the country, it is imperative to study occupational risks associated with the installation of these assets. This study aims to propose guidelines for standardizing occupational safety measures in the process of installing Offshore Wind Farms in Brazil. The research was developed in three stages: i) theoretical research on occupational safety, offshore environment regulations, onshore environment regulations, and regulations in the Oil & Gas sector; ii) case studies on occupational safety guidelines in the offshore wind sector in the United Kingdom and Denmark; and iii) structuring a proposal for occupational safety guidelines to support the development of activities in the installation of offshore wind farms in Brazil. The results highlight the importance of standardizing activities in this new segment in Brazil, ensuring that they are governed by specific regulations due to the critical need for maintaining safe environments and activities in light of the high risks associated with this sector.
