SUMMARY:

Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is an obstetric emergency responsible for numerous maternal deaths in various countries, including Brazil. The lack of quality care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period is identified as a central factor in maternal mortality, highlighting the urgent need for strategies to improve the quality of care. In this context, this study aims to develop the content and design of a graphic protocol for nursing care in postpartum hemorrhage. This is a methodological study focused on creating a technological product for PPH management. To develop the content of the graphic protocol, a scoping review is being conducted following the method proposed by JBI and adhering to the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR), with the objective of mapping scientific evidence on the topic. The protocol has been registered with the Open Science Framework (OSF) under DOI https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/D9235. The initial search for studies was conducted in May 2024 by two independent researchers in the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, Cochrane, and LILACS databases, as well as in gray literature repositories, such as the Thesis and Dissertation Catalog of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the open-access scientific repositories of Portugal (RCAAP). The final review sample comprised 14 studies. A total of 29 nursing interventions related to PPH prevention, 18 interventions focused on PPH identification, and 42 interventions associated with PPH treatment and stabilization were mapped. Based on the findings of this review, the graphic protocol for nursing care in this context will be developed. The study's results are expected to contribute to improving care for women with postpartum hemorrhage and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.
