Parallel GPS Signal Detection Using Variance Triggered Two-step Acquisition
GPS detection, GPS acquisition, parallelism
The NAVSTAR / GPS (Navigation System with Timing And Ranging / Global Positioning System) is a satellite-based navigation system developed for military purposes by the US Defense Department in mid 1970. Because of its great utility, was later released to civilian use. Many receivers also use technology that require high processing time and high energy consumption. Other achieve better performance, but they create a more complex design and expensive to implement. This paper proposes a parallel receiver with mixed granularity that maintains the same requirements as simply conventional implementation and achieves a performance level of more complex strategies. This receiver uses the acquisition strategy in two steps, which will be improved by the application of a fine-grained parallelism. It is believed that the development of a simple and efficient receptor is crucial to deepen the study and GPS receiver technology domain in Brazil.
