SUMMARY:

This paper presents the development of a robust control strategy for the Electromagnetic Frequency Regulator (EFVR), a modified induction machine with a stator attached to the turbine shaft and a rotor fed by current injected by a voltage inverter (VSI). The EFVR enables the integration of complementary energy sources, such as storage systems and photovoltaic generators, but faces significant control challenges due to its dynamic nature and sensitivity to disturbances, parametric uncertainties, and measurement noise.

Conventional controllers, such as PID and ADRC, perform poorly when faced with abrupt load variations and operating point changes, resulting in transient oscillations and difficulties in achieving robustness. In response to these limitations, this research proposes a field-oriented vector control (FOC) strategy combined with robust H∞ synthesis, aiming to ensure accurate reference speed tracking, robust disturbance rejection, control effort limitation, and tolerance to system uncertainties.

The effectiveness of the approach was validated through simulations in the MATLAB/Simulink environment, demonstrating superior performance under adverse operating conditions, such as load transients and generation fluctuations.
