SUMMARY:

The trajectory of mental health development in Brazil comes from the creation of care models and the monitoring of various changes. In this context, substitute services were programs designed to deinstitutionalize the current hospital-centric model. Thus, the Psychosocial Care Centers for Alcohol and Other Drugs are one of the modalities of substitute services, which constitute an environment that welcomes individuals of all ages with disorders resulting from addiction to crack, alcohol and other drugs. Specifically, one of the most common disorders in users with alcohol abuse is the Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome, which in turn is characterized by a set of signs and symptoms, including anxiety and craving. It is believed that the use of integrative and complementary practices, such as Bach Flower Remedies, can help to reduce the most evident symptoms. In this sense, the objective is to analyze the effectiveness of the use of Bach flower therapy in the relief of craving and anxiety in individuals with mild/moderate Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome. This is a Randomized Controlled Trial. The study site will be in a Psychosocial Care Center for Alcohol and other drugs of modality III in the city of Boqueirão, in the state of Paraíba, Brazil. To carry out the trial, participants will be allocated to an experimental group or a control group through randomization supported by Microsoft Excel software. In addition, the blinding will be done by standardizing the amber bottles and by the administration of a researcher without knowledge of the groups. The data collection instruments will consist of: the Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol, Revised; the trace and State Anxiety Inventory; and Alcohol Craving Questionnaire - Short Form - Revised - Brazilian Version. Descriptive and inferential analyzes will be performed using STATA® software, version 14 for desktop. It is important to highlight that the project will be appreciated by the Ethics Committee in Central Research of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, and only after approval will the research begin.
