SUMMARY:

Obesity is a non-communicable chronic metabolic disease on a global scale that ranks among the diseases most associated with morbidity in countries with high prevalence. Among the factors that contribute to the development of obesity is genetic inheritance. The literature reports several with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) that are associated with the development of obesity. The study and association of genes with the development of this disease has been gaining prominence within nutrigenomics. The study of SNPs associated with obesity allowed the prediction of the risk of developing this disease based on genetic information. However, there is still discussion about the real contribution of SNPs in the development of obesity. It is important that efforts to personalize health go beyond the assessment of traditional categories of risk factors (age, sex, physical activity, for example). In this context, the objective of this work is to verify the association of the presence of SNPs and gene expression in a specific panel of genes to evaluate the tendency to obesity, relating them to anthropometric indicators, food consumption and level of physical activity of patients of a software of nutritional care.
