INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GOVERNANCE: A STUDY AT THE FEDERAL RURAL UNIVERSITY OF SEMI-ARID

Nowadays Information Technology is considered as a strategic tool and value creation in organizations. In addition, Information Technology seeks the competitiveness between organizations whether public or private. Knowing this, organizations need to understand planning and managing IT efficiently, aiming to aggregate and measure business-related value by considering the IT-related decision-making process. For this, it is necessary to use as a management tool the Information Technology Governance that will direct Information Technology to give all the support to reach the strategic objectives in the organizations. To give all this support to the Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid with regard to IT Governance and focus on the strategic objectives of the business the research has the objective of analyzing the degree of maturity of IT Governance using the COBIT framework. This framework will provide support for adequacy with respect to principles, enablers and governance processes relating to IT Governance. As an initial premise, the research will be formatted with the technique of data collection with the use of a questionnaire and the use of a quantitative survey that will enable the interpretation and comparison of these data. Descriptive statistics will be used as a tool to analyze the data obtained in the research. In this way, it is expected to diagnose and identify weaknesses and from this can be created an action plan to strengthen the Mechanisms of Information Technology Governance and with this guarantee strategic alignment and value delivery with the use of Technology of Information.
