Beekeeping is an important agricultural activity in Brazil, it represents the work of many families of small and medium rural producers, generating income and contributing to the improvement of the quality of life and permanence of the man in the rural environment.
The amount of honey produced in the last fifteen years in Brazil has increased by more than 50%. National production has already exceeded 45,000 tons per year, but Brazil is still the 8th largest producer of honey in the world. In Brazil, of all honey produced, on average, half is exported.
In order to ensure the quality of honey, the external market increasingly creates rules and regulations that require guarantees in the food trade between countries.
In this sense, there is a need for the Brazilian beekeeping productive sector to adapt to meet market demands, such as establishing, describing and recording the procedures performed in the production and processing of honey.
The objective of this work is to present an information system called APISOFT, which proposes functionalities adhering to the norms required for the export of honey, management assistance in the monitoring of the implementation of good beekeeping practices in Brazil, traceability record of honey during the entire beekeeping chain and tools to direct the beekeeper to increase the productivity of the apiary.
