FROM SCIENCE TO INNOVATION
Based on interdisciplinarity, the purpose of the Professional Master in Science, Technology and Innovation (MPI) of the Graduate Program in Science, Technology and Innovation (PPgCTI) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) is to generate intellectual capital and processes that develop a culture of innovation in the environments that make up the triple helix of socioeconomic development (universities, companies and governmental sectors), as well as the interaction of these environments. Within this purpose, it develops science in an entrepreneurial way and entrepreneurship in a scientific way. The MPI is structured in a single field of focus: Innovation and Information Management, with two lines of research, of a scientific and entrepreneurial nature.
The line of research “Development of Technologies for Innovation” focuses on the development of technological products that mitigate social and market-related troublesome situations, whereas the line of research Innovation Management is focused on the development of strategies that mitigate socioeconomic problem situations. Specifically, in the transformation of the scientific-technological information into socioeconomic wealth, from the analysis of scenarios to identify opportunities, planning of inter- and intra-organizational innovation strategies and the monitoring of results, as well as funding and management of financial resources, management of intellectual property and technology transfer.
