RESUMO:

     This work makes an analyzing of the importance of energy monitoring to obtain consumption informations. If this informations are applied to the best practices of the industry to the commercial environment, they can produce gains such as: optimization of the consumption, reduction of the costs and also it produces informations for decisions in the future. The text will present a description about the context in which the project is inserted, limitations of the energy management products found in the market and the solution proposed that is based on metrics present in international and Brazilian standards, including the Brazilian Standard NBR 50001 that defines standards of energy management, the research and development manual of the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), as well as scientific publications in the field of energy monitoring equipments.
