RESUMO:

From the beginning of the modern administration, at the beginning of the 20th century, companies of the most diverse segments adopted rational techniques that aim at control and quality in their productive processes, these techniques focus on the reduction of waste through the elimination of errors. With the technological advance of the last years, companies have faced increasingly fierce competition, demanding faster changes and a more flexible work processes. Faced with this new reality, the management of innovation has become the focus of business and companies that demonstrate greater flexibility in their processes have started to gain greater market shares. However, it is observed that the quality addressed at the beginning of the research and the innovation can be interpreted as contradictory, since the quality aims to eliminate the error and the innovation, accept the error as a tool of learning and improvement. Faced with this paradox between quality management and innovation management, there is a dilemma: How to combine these factors, quality management and innovation management? Throughout this work will be presented situations in which innovation and quality can be confronted especially in software development projects. The research is based on a real project managed by the author and aims to provide a framework based on several project management practices that can be useful in projects that present characteristics typical of innovation projects.
