RESUMO:

This work will discuss innovation management based on academic spin-off research. COIoT, the resulting startup of the Samanaú Project, will be presented. This research project was developed at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) in cooperation with the Northeast Regional Center of the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (CNR-INPE). In addition, it will also be described the intellectual property artifacts developed and introduced in the market by the startup that was modeled during the present master’s course and object of this work. The results will be discussed in terms of intellectual property artifacts and how such artifacts were commercially exploited by startup, resulting in a return on the form of royalties to the research institutions involved.
