RESUMO:

This work will discuss a type of innovation based on academic spin-off research. The Samanaú
Project, a research project developed at the IFRN - Federal Institute of Education, Science and
Technology of Rio Grande do Norte together with CRN-INPE, Regional Center of the
Northeast, of the Brazilian National Institute of Space Research, will be demonstrated. The
developed intellectual property artifacts were introduced in the market by a startup, modeled
during the present master's course and object of this work. The results will be discussed in terms
of intellectual property artifacts and how such artifacts were commercially exploited by startup,
resulting in a return on the form of royalties to the research institutions involved.
