SUMMARY:

In the history of the human condition, learning and cultural / artistic manifestations have always existed and changed according to the norms, values and characteristics that are so peculiarly different in different cultural and social realities. It is known that through the incentive promoted by the arts it is possible to develop and improve in individuals the motor skills, creative, expressive of verbal and body languages, and see themselves as producing subjects of their concrete material reality. The objective of this research is therefore to analyze the Theater of the Oppressed in pedagogical terms regarding the areas of knowledge of Sociology and Art Teaching in high school, verifying the contributions that this theatrical technique can offer to the teaching practice, as well as to the teaching. students' learning process on subject-related content such as: Citizenship, Culture, Racism, Gender, Sexuality, Work, etc. Considering the importance of critical education of learners in this stage of education, as prescribed by the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB) when spelling out the purposes of high school: “the improvement of the student as a human person, including ethical training and the development of intellectual autonomy and critical thinking. ” In this sense, the method of the oppressed theater, through its different democratic practices, can foster the students' understanding of social phenomena as socio-historical and cultural constructions, thus being capable of denaturalization through reflective thinking about concrete reality. The work focuses on the line of research that studies the processes of teaching, learning and creation through the arts.
