This project aims to propose pedagogical practices in the visual arts that explore indigenous art and culture, contextualized with the sociocultural reality of contemporary society. It is intended, through the research reported here, practices that value and demystify historical events impartially on the reality of the "forest" peoples and their artistic production throughout the development of Brazil. Defended here is the development of methods and didactic resources that focus on indigenous art, for the unbiased contextualization of historical events, that collaborate in the re-signification of the indigenous's role and collective identity. The available educational materials, their capacity for pedagogical involvement, indigenous artistic production and the impacts of these resources will be analyzed, as well as the formation of the image of the Indian in the school enviroment.
