Studio. Space.School.Visual Arts.
This research evaluates the importance of educational space for the arts teaching
learning process in the classroom. Discusses the gaps, difficulties and limitations in the
brazilian school context with respect to the spaces for the visual arts activities. In addition,
it seeks to problematize the subject from the parameters and current educational criteria,
which indicate how the influence of the physical structure and environments can be
decisive for teaching and learning. The work also refers to some artists active in Rio
Grande do Norte that emphasize the importance of the studio as well as in art knowledge
production place. Our hypothesis is the artistic production space thus makes up an
important articulator in the development process of a suitable environment for the work of
students in a school. It is therefore a significant resource in support to the objectives of the
discipline of Visual Arts. So we bring some testimonials from teachers and artists that
highlight the studio as an indispensable space for artistic production. We take as guiding
principles of this discussion examples of educational proposals as the School of Bridge
and Pedagogy of Reggio Emilia, which are based on ideas that epistemologically opposed
to traditional models, becoming innovative and worthy of being taken as exampl es to
possible reflections on the current Brazilian educational situation, particularly as regards
the arts teaching in public schools.
