SUMMARY:

The Brazilian Prison System suffers with the deficit of vacancy, as well as the degradation of the prison units all-over the country. The actual population of prisoners in Brazil has a total deficit of 350 thousand vacancies. Given the current conjecture, as well as the degradation of the prison’s infrastructure, the resocialization of people is increasingly far all over the country. The State of Rio Grande do Norte is passing for a restructuring of the prison’s units after the rebellions that occurred in the year of 2017 and caused several escapes and deaths in many prison’s units in the State. In this context and aiming to seek possible solutions, the present work has as objective an architectural design for an extension of the Complexo Penitenciário Dr. Mário Negócio, located in the city of Mossoró, state of Rio Grande do Norte, with emphasis in resocialization of convicted prisoners. For this purpose, were necessary bibliographic researches and many studies, as well searches of design and project references concerning of resocialization of people around the word. Through the theory of resocialization humanistic introduce in this work, following the normative and current laws for the elaboration of this project category, as well as seeking the focus of this theme through sensory architecture, were developed all the process of the proposal design. The expansion of the Complexo Penitenciário Dr. Mário Negócio were based on the possibilities of promoting spaces that allow resocialization of convicted prisoners in closed regime. The offer of work-oriented activities, education, practice of religious activities, as well as medical care access, in prison spaces, seek to improve the conditions of those who are serving time in prison, in order to try to recover and return them to society in conditions of resocialization. As result, the work has a proposal of guarded and safe spaces, that offer a less hostile and more comfortable for its occupants, mostly in thermal terms conditions, integrating them to the proposed landscaping.
