I WILL NOT BE INTERRUPTED”: AN ANALYSIS OF THE PERFORMANCE OF BLACK PARLIAMENTARIES IN BRAZIL
Black parliamentarians, Political activity, Brazilian situation.
The marks left by slavery still persist in the reality of the black population in Brazil, especially black women who suffer from oppression and exploitation, bringing economic, social and political implications to their lives. Marielle Franco was one of the black women who fought against these obstacles and has always been a tireless defender of human rights, especially for women and black people, but her political activity was interrupted in March 2018 when Brazil received the news of the murders of her and her driver, Anderson Gomes. Therefore, this research is justified by the importance of highlighting the activities of black parliamentarians, even though they still have low representation in the institutional spaces of Brazilian politics. Thus, the objective is to analyze the performance of black parliamentarians elected in Brazil for the terms that will run from 2019 to 2022 to examine how the participation of black parliamentarians elected in Brazil favors the agendas proposed by the black movement and the women's movement; highlight the main agendas of proposed bills, hearings and actions and their importance for the current situation and; identify the challenges and problems of the parliamentary performance of female deputies in this situation; The assumptions of materialism and Marxian dialectics were used, as well as the readings of black feminist thinkers. Initially, the number of proposals presented by parliamentarians in the Legislative Chamber and their thematic blocks were mapped. After that, the proposals that addressed themes related to gender and race stood out, in which the fight against domestic violence was highlighted. However, confronting racism still appears in a small number of propositions. Furthermore, gender-based political violence affects the lives of some parliamentarians, which makes a constant struggle necessary for these women to occupy these spaces.
