SUICIDE ATTEMPTIVE AND SERIDO POTIGUAR: A STUDY IN THE LIGHT OF HEIDEGGERIAN HERMENEUTIC PHENOMENOLOGY
Suicide attempt, Heideggerian Hermeneutic Phenomenology, Seridó potiguar.
The phenomenon of suicide runs through the history of mankind and many authors have devoted themselves to studying it. Such interest is due to the various feelings evoked by the theme, namely: embarrassment, sadness, doubts, among others. Suicide is a taboo and its understanding will always be in a multidimensional perspective, without ever fading its content. The phenomenon of suicide is gaining more and more prominence in the region of Seridó potiguar, due to the increasing mortality rate for suicide in the city of Caicó. This paper aims to understand the experience of suicide attempt in the region of Seridó potiguar. Such study is configured as a phenomenological-hermeneutic research, inspired by Heideggerian ontology. Five survivors who attempted suicide were interviewed, residing in the city of Caicó-RN. The analysis of the material comprised the collaborators' narratives and the researcher's affects through the phenomenological-hermeneutic interpretation. The results of the study have presented the meanings of the experience of giving up living in the northeastern semiarid. We realized the presence of historicity building up meanings for people who live in the region of Seridó potiguar. The interpretations of the narratives presented reports of meaninglessness feelings, fear of social judgments, conflicts in love relationships, guilt and sadness, among others. We reflected on aspects of the culture of the region that were found faced in the lines of the collaborators, as well as the constant struggle to stay alive facing an intense desire not to live. We hope that the existential approximation of the ontological condition experienced by these people, during their suicidal attempts, can provide a new perspective at the phenomenon of suicide in the region of Seridó potiguar.
