RESUMO:

Law 11.340 / 2006, better known as the Maria da Penha Law, was created to curb cases of domestic violence against women and to hold perpetrators responsible for violence. With this in mind, the overall objective of this study was to analyze the reflective group with men who are authors of domestic violence as a strategy to reduce cases of violence against women in the city of Natal. The research locus was a nucleus of support for women in situations of domestic violence. The data collection comprised the period from September to December 2017, being carried out in two stages: a documentary stage, which consisted of the analysis of the attendance sheets of the participants of the reflexive groups, totalizing an analysis of 26 groups. The other stage included participant observation and semi-structured individual interviews. The categorization of the data is divided into three stages: pre-group stage, stage of group meetings and post-group stage. It should be noted that the analysis of the third stage is still ongoing. Therefore, partial results will be presented. The results of the first stage demonstrated the profile of the male perpetrators of violence (MPV) in the reflexive groups. Thus, it was found that the population of MPV e is composed mostly of adult males aged 31 to 40 years, whites, in a stable union with low schooling. Most situations of violence occurred during the relationship of the couple, highlighting the physical violence. The results of the second phase, on the other hand, indicated that improvements are still necessary to make optimum use of the potential of the reflexive groups carried out by the nucleus, especially with regard to the functioning, evaluation and follow-up of the graduates. Suggestions are made throughout the study in order to overcome the limits found. It should be noted that these are preliminary results and cover only part of this work. It is believed that the analysis of the third stage can contribute even more to the understanding of the researched universe, in order to bring new elements to contribute in the discussion.
