Decimal numbering system and fundamental operations: doing mathematical rigor to an approach for multipurpose teachers.
Continued teacher nurture, Natural Numbers, basic Operations, UBP, Mathematics in the initial years of Elementary Education.
The presentworkhas as mainobjectivetodevelop a didactic material approachingthe conceptual meaningsofthe fundamental operationswiththe natural numbers, aimedtotheteacherswhoteachMathematics in theinitialyearsoftheElementarySchool. The majorityofthem, whohave a degree in Pedagogy, do notreceivedsufficientnurture in Mathematics, its becausethePedagogycoursesgiveprioritytomethodologicalissues, tothedetrimentofthespecificcontentsofthe disciplines. Ourresearchwasbased, mainly, onthestudiescarried out by Curi (2004) andwedid a recentresearch in theeducationalprogramofPedagogycourses in some publicuniversities in severalBrazilianstates, in ordertodetectthesubjectsdestinedtothestudyofMath. Wewill approach thecontentofNumbersfromthe point ofviewofmathematicalaccuracyandalso over a more accessiblelanguage for non-mathematicians. Finally, as anEducationalProduct, resultingfromourresearchandreflections, weprepared a handouttobeused in a minicourseofcontinuingeducation for teachers in theElementarySchool, exploringthe decimal numbering system andtheessentialoperationswith natural numbers. For this, weusedthe Basic ProblematizationUnits - BPU (UBPs in Portuguese), a taskproposedby Miguel and Mendes (2010), whichrescueshistoricaland social practices, andfromtheminvestigativeandreflectivequestions are elaborated.
