The transition to a low carbon system is a great challenge, demanding actions through policies and technologies for the energy sector in a sustainable way and that meets the growing demand for energy, without increasing the risks of climate change. Renewable energy sources have been shown to be alternatives for the diversification of the national and global energy matrix, and can also collaborate to achieve the global goals related to energy and described in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations United Nations (UN). The Northeast region of Brazil, despite presenting scenarios of vulnerabilities and inequalities, is a region that has great potential for the generation of renewable energy, mainly wind and solar photovoltaic. However, in this region, in particular,demanding actions that are more adaptable and in line with rapid changes based on a model that actually considers the environmental, social and economic aspects with the articulated participation of society.Therefore, this proposal has as main objective to analyze how energy governance has been developed in the state of Paraíba, taking into account the actors involved, the specificitiesof the territorieslocations and climate change. The relevance of this study is primarily due to the possibility of raising an interdisciplinary discussion, providing a dialogue based on different theoretical/concepts and different areas of knowledge, such as the economic, public and social policy areas. In addition, it is intended to bring a closer investigation of the problem of the renewable energy sector in the state of Paraíba so that the result of the research can favor the intensification of the scientific debate at the local level on energy governance, in the context of climate change and offer guidelines practices in the light of existing theories. Methodologically, the work will have a qualitative and interdisciplinary approach, using the method of specialized bibliographic survey of primary and secondary data, including oficial documents and statistical data from specific bodies related to the categories of analysis: energy resources, energy governance and sustainability.
