THE FEMINIST AGENDA IN PUBLIC POLICY: CHALLENGES FOR ACTION IN THE ADDRESSING GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN CHRISTMAS.

Social movement, feminism, gender violence, public policies for women.

This dissertation discusses the participation of the feminist movement as a propositional actor and strategy for guaranteeing public policies for women. part of a historical reconstitution, which takes into account the emergence of policies for women with the redemocratization of the country, and the paths taken to develop them in the municipality of Christmas. The role of specific governmental bodies of policies for the women, as well as the incidence of feminists, who guide specific demands, such as imperative for the promotion of gender equality in institutional policies governmental and non-governmental. The conceptual discussion about the performance of the movement feminist in public policy is followed by an analysis of the factors that influence it in the practice. The factors were identified from interviews with managers and activists of the movement involved with the National Pact to Combat Violence against Women, created in 2007 and agreed in the city of Natal in 2009. It is concluded that, between constraints and opportunities experienced from daily life among managers who act in the execution of public policies for women and the feminist movement, the construction of a common agenda can contribute to the advancement of policies for the women, but still far from what is proposed to end inequalities between men and women in society.
