SUMMARY:

This research aims to analyze the housing policy promoted by the National Housing Bank, focusing on the removal of slums, having as a cutout the Promorar Program, in the city of Natal/RN. The housing problem is of complex resolution, reflecting in situations where the housing sets destined to the low-income population end up translating into a reproduction of housing precariousness, especially in those that receive the population from slum removals. During the BNH's operations in Brazil, Natal was chosen as a pioneer city in the implementation of the first slum removal (and social interest) program of the agency: The Sub-Housing Eradication Program - Promorar. Therefore, the object of study of this research are the three Promorar projects in the city: Santa Esmeralda, Felipe Camarão I and III and Panatis II, analyzing whether there was a reproduction of inequalities at the time of their implementation, the main difficulties encountered and what the complexes are in the city today. Until this stage of the research, qualitative methodological procedures were used, by means of bibliographical references, research in the collection of the Tribuna do Norte newspaper, and in COHAB/RN's documentation: urbanistic projects, contracts of the complexes, and photographic records of the area. Through the MaxQda software a qualitative analysis of the newspapers articles was made and through AutoCad the urbanistic projects of the complexes were reproduced.
