Policing, Policing Standards, Covid-19, Rio Grande do Norte Military Police
Police forces are essencial tools in any State project and, in democracies, they are essential to the protection of citizens' fundamental rights and guarantees (MONJARDET, 1996). Despite not being presented in a single format, since they respond to the particularities of each state and people, modern police officers end up presenting characteristics and tendencies in common, classified as policing standards (BAYLEY, 1985). Modern policing standards are the result of the interaction between Police, State and Society, and may vary based on public and state needs. In view of these circumstances, the objective of this paper is to analyze how the critical event of the covid-19 pandemic, which occurred worldwide between the years 2020-2021, could affect the practices of a police force, notably the Military Police of Rio Grande do Norte, the from the policing standards set by David H Bayley.
